Shalom-Center for Peace and Restoration, Inc.

Our Beginnings 

Shalom-Center was founded in 2003 by three young women who attend highschool together and remained friends through college. Each one of the women had an individual desire to help their community. Collobratively, their interests included providing group homes for children and youth, opening shelters for the homeless, and offering employment services. These social service programs would work to address the needs of children, youth and disadvantaged families in the Polk county and surrounding areas.

The first program initiated in 2006 was the opening of the residential group home, "Shalom House".

Our Business

Shalom's founders each have a heart for those who are less fortunate. Each founder believes that the equation to success includes appropriate services in place, a helping hand, and a push to spark a person's motiviation.

Our motto is, like CPR, "We strive to bring your life into a complete recovery."

Who We Are

Shalom's founders are apart of the executive board of directors as well as work as part of management in the day to day operations of the organization.

 Karena Maultsby 

Mrs. Maultsby is the Executive Director for the organizaton. She has a Bachelors of Science degree in Health Science Education from the University of Florida. Her 5 years of experiene in the social work field and her educational background has provided the basis for her ability to operate and facilitate social service programs. 

 Altavise Henry

Ms. Henry is the Human Resources Director for the organization. She has a Masters degree in Organization Management from Springfield College, and a Bachelors of Science in Rehabilitation counseling from Florida State University. Her 3 years of experience in case management and her educational background has assisted in her ability to address the needs and issues facing the community we serve.

 Sherrita Denson

Mrs. Denson is the Program Director for the organization. She oversees the operating of the residential group homes. Mrs. Denson has a great ability when comes to working with children. Her educational background includes courses in psychology, business management, and computer programming. Her abilities has assisted in the organizing, development and operating of our residential group home program.
